In this article, we will be discussing some amusing stories that others have had that will make you want to give it a try even more.

What Lucid Dreaming Is

Before hopping into the stories, here is a brief explanation to the newcomers of the concept that aren’t sure of what lucid dreaming is. It is when you gain awareness during a dream that you are dreaming, and that nothing that is going on is real.

The majority of the time, we are so wrapped up in the dream world that we can’t tell what is reality anymore, but lucid dreaming allows you to take back control and explore the depths of your subconscious mind.

Meeting Myself from Jake M.

It started with me at one of my friend’s house, attending a pretty casual party. We had a couple of drinks here and there and some great food to munch on. Everyone was really cool and chill, and we were all having a great time.

One of my best friends Gus was there, and we started to talk and catch up. The more we talked, the more we began to dwell into deeper topics, like the meaning of life, philosophy, spiritual endeavors and things of that sort. It was one of the most enlightening conversations I’ve had, and it flowed so easily that I thought it would never end, and I didn’t want it to.

There was a point in the conversation that I noticed something was off. My friend Gus was standing in front of me, the one that moved out of state long ago and that I haven’t seen in forever. There was no way that he could be having a party in this house if he didn’t live here anymore.

When I made this realization, I thought that there was only one explanation for it; I was dreaming. I asked Gus if he was real, and he said no with a knowing smirk like he was waiting for me to realize all along. The moment I noticed it was a dream, I had this strong feeling of empowerment and took advantage of it.

I decided that I wanted everyone to go to the beach, and it happened in the blink of an eye. All of a sudden we were around a campfire, chilling on the sand and talked even more about deeper topics. It was the best dream I ever had and was my first time lucid dreaming.

When I woke up, I made the connection that Gus was my subconscious personified, allowing me to interact with the deeper parts of myself… to myself.

Be Careful What You Ask For from Samantha R.

My dream started out really happy and normal. It was a beautiful summer day, and I was walking to the local ice cream shop that I always went to when I was younger. When I was nearing the entrance, I noticed a sign on the window. It was subtle and very easy to miss. The weirdest thing about it is what it said.

“You are dreaming.” When I read it, it instantly clicked that I was dreaming and my perspective started to change. I went into the ice cream shop, told the cashier what I wanted, and she gave me a price. I told her it was free and I started to get handfuls of ice cream and shoved them into my mouth.

Once I left, I passed by a meadow with tall grass, and there were a lot of bunnies milling around. I imagined the rabbits transforming into cats, but they didn’t quite finish the transformation. I started to play with them all, and they were still cute despite being mutated, but the mistake I made was when I made them laugh.

I wanted all of them to laugh instead of making their normal little noises. I immediately realized that it was super creepy, having mutated bunny cats with human laughter. Since my thoughts went to a dark place, I started to imagine other dark things, like demons and death.

It turned into a lucid nightmare, and I had to face off with the scary parts of my mind. Knowing that it was a dream helped, but because of how vivid it was, it was still a terrifying experience.

Am I Dead? From Kris

I was at the mall, walking back to my car after doing some serious shopping for myself. In the parking garage, I heard a high pitched scream, and I instantly froze with fear. A few rows over, a man was dragging a girl around my age into a car, and she was trying to get away.

I had two options, run for help and risk them getting away, or handle the situation myself. I ran towards them and tried to fight off the man to allow her to get away and get help. But, the man got ahold of me, and I was in the other girl’s previous position. He managed to force me into the trunk and drove off.

I could feel that he was speeding through the parking lot and all of a sudden I felt and heard the car collide with something. The car got overturned, and I was instantly injured, completely crushed underneath. I knew I was dead. No one can survive that.

But, I found myself outside of the wreck, just standing there with no harm done, and that’s when I realized I was in a dream and that none of it was real. When I realized this, I instantly woke up.

Conclusion

These three lucid dreaming experiences give you an idea of how random and strange dreaming can be, even more so when you know that you are. It shows that it is more than just experiencing the freedom of flying and doing whatever you want. Most have a deeper meaning and is a reflection of what is going on in the hidden depths of ourselves and can give you something to learn from.
